2000

Tom Nieporte

In the first decade of the new millennium, Winged Foot wasted no time adding to its storied championship history. Ryan Moore won the 2004 US Amateur, adding to his NCAA title and US Amateur Public Links victory of the same year. Australian, Geoff Ogilvy, won the 2006 US Open Championship in thrilling fashion. With a five-over-par total, he edged out Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk and Colin Montgomery to win the title. 2006 was also the year that the club bid farewell to longtime head professional, Tom Nieporte, who remained a dependable fixture at the club since his start in 1978.
