Standards of Dress

The Winged Foot Dress Policy is designed to maintain the tradition, decorum and dignity of our Club. Proper dress while using Club facilities is traditional and conservative and applies to all Members, their families, guests and child care providers. Members are required to be familiar with these standards and are responsible for their guests’ conformance.
 

Club Grounds

Cargo pants/shorts, denim, and work out clothing are not acceptable anywhere on the premises. Rips of any kind in any articles of clothing are prohibited.

White jeans for women will be allowed in the clubhouse and on the terrace.

On Friday and Saturday nights, shorts for men are not permitted after 7:00 pm on Club grounds with the exception of the Pool and the golf courses/practice areas, and at those tables in the Grille Room closest to the bar - for bar service only, not dining. Shorts may be worn in the Grille Room and on the Terrace after 7:00 PM Sunday through Thursday and by women any time.

From time to time the House Committee and Board of Governors may approve shorts throughout the clubhouse for special events or occasions.

Athletic/high-top sneakers, rubber sandals, and Crocs are only permitted at the Pool.


East Room

Members and their guests can enjoy pre-dinner drinks and light fare or simply relax over some cocktails in this Casually elegant room. No children – 21 or over. Television will be on for special events only as this room will be more subdued and couples oriented. Private parties can be scheduled only when room is not in use by Members. Long pants and collared shirt are required after 5:00 pm. Jackets for men are encouraged, but not required. No cell phone usage allowed.


The Founders Room

Named after our founding Architects, Golf Course, A.W. Tillinghast and Clubhouse, Charles Wendehack, this room is the perfect setting for cocktail or private Member dining and seats up to 18 guests.
 
Long pants and collared shirt required. Jackets for men are encouraged, but not required.


West Room

This room is intended for couples and Members looking for a quiet, relaxed setting in which to dine. Collared shirts are required. Jackets for men are encouraged, but not required. No shorts or cell phone usage allowed. Children are welcome. Available for private parties during daytime hours.


Club Room

The Club Room is an informal area where junior golfers are welcome to enjoy lunch or dinner. Casual dress, golf attire and shorts are permitted. Available for private parties of up to 30 guests.
 

Golf Attire for Men

  • Collared shirts and slacks or shorts are required.
  • Shirts must be tucked in at all times and belts are required.
  • Long-sleeved turtlenecks and long-sleeved mock turtlenecks are permitted.
  • Slacks and shorts must be tailored for golf.
  • Shorts must be of Bermuda length.
  • Sneaker style golf shoes of a conservative style are acceptable.
  • Soft spikes are required. No “high-top” sneakers.
  • Not permitted: Denim blue jeans, shorts or cargo pants.
  • Not permitted: Work out clothing.
  • Men may not wear golf hats in the clubhouse or on the terrace.
  • Hats are only to be worn with the brim facing forward.
  • Not permitted: rips of any kind in any articles of clothing.
  • Athletic/high-top sneakers, rubber sandals, and crocs are only permitted at the Pool.

Golf Attire for Women

  • Slacks or Cropped pants.
  • Shorts, skorts or skirts no shorter than 4 inches above the knee.
  • Shorts must be 7” inseam or greater.
  • White jeans will be allowed.
  • All clothing must be conservative, golf specific and in good taste.
  • Women may wear golf hats on the terrace.
  • Not permitted: halter, tube or tank tops, open midriffs, tennis skirts and jeans.
  • Athletic/high-top sneakers, rubber sandals, and Crocs are only permitted at the Pool.

Golf Attire for Juniors

  • Junior golfers 14 and over must follow adult rules
  • Children under 14 are allowed to wear conservative athletic shoes for golf only.
  • Athletic/high-top sneakers, rubber sandals, and Crocs are only permitted at the Pool.

Pool Attire

  • Pool attire is strictly limited to the immediate pool area.
  • It is not acceptable in any other area of the Club grounds.
  • Athletic/high-top sneakers, rubber sandals, and Crocs are only permitted at the Pool.
